Mindful | Conscientious | Witty

“Roses are red, violets are blue. Their son is an engineer, why not you!?”

To set the context, I was brought up with glorified stereotypes and expectations. But, after having squandered 4 years of my life trying to fit into them, I gladly threw myself into the abyss of the unknown. An off-the-oven B.E graduate, I interned at a digital marketing agency to expose myself to new experiences. What began as a 2-month free trial, soon turned into a growth story I still can't fathom. With the freedom to immerse myself in learning from the creative team that surrounded me, to finding my feet as a digital 'hatchling', to slowly managing operations for the agency, I began to realise my potential as an independent learner.

I worked with a spirited team to devise digital strategy and liaised with clients for delivery management. I learnt to adapt, evolve and skill myself as I went along. My team called me the 'OPS Guy' – an endearment that brought with it a happy weight on my shoulders and a responsibility that I tried to fulfil as best as I could. I effectively recognised problem statements, tying them in with business goals to improve processes and employee management. My personal growth was at its all-time high, as value judgements and resourcefulness became second nature.

My journey has just about begun. My passion for 'learn as you grow, grow as you learn' is a direction to a greater purpose I don't yet know. I do, however, know that 'passion over profession' is what makes the cut. And, I'm happy to say, with some confidence, that I can acquire skills, I can do them quick and I can fall in love with this process – over and over again.
